Are there any items that are prohibited at UPMC Events Center?
Prohibited Items: We ask all guests to arrive early and travel light, as you may be subject to search, which includes metal detecting and/or hand wands upon entry. For safety reasons, prohibited items include but are not limited to:
Alcohol, drugs, illegal substances or any paraphernalia associated with drug use
Audio/Video recorders, professional cameras, tripods, selfie sticks, drones
Balloons
Cans, bottles, coolers or other similar containers
Fireworks
Flags/Signs with poles
iPads, tablets or laptops of any size
Laser pens/pointers of any type
Noisemakers such as air horns, sirens, kazoos, whistles, drums, etc.
Non-collapsible umbrellas
Outside food or drinks
Oversized bags, backpacks, duffel bags
Pepper spray/mace or tasers
Signs larger than 8.5" by 11"
Skateboards, rollerblades and hoverboards
Unapproved pamphlets, handouts, ads, etc.
Weapons of any type, including firearms, chains, knives, spiked jewelry and brass knuckles
Wrapped gifts or packages
Any other item deemed unacceptable by event/building management
Do I have to walk through a metal detector when I enter the building?
Yes, new security enhancements have been implemented and all guests will have to go through walk-through metal detectors. These are located at every entrance. To accommodate the additional time needed for the new security procedures, fans are encouraged to arrive early to allow extra time for ingress.
Is there a limit on the size of bag I can bring inside?
Yes, bags no larger than 12"x12" will be permitted inside UPMC Events Center. Guests who have bags larger than this size will be asked to return them to their vehicles. All bags will also be searched for prohibited items at entry before walking through the metal detectors.
What time do doors open for each event?
For most events, doors open 60 minutes prior to start time. This may vary by event. For specific information, please check the event specific page at www.upmceventcenter.com.
Are cameras allowed for UPMC Event Center events?
For most events, at the request of the artists and/or leagues, cameras (specifically cameras with professional/detachable lenses and flash) are not permitted. UPMC Events Center reserves the right to examine and prohibit the use of any camera that conflicts with the policy set by the event. Audio recorders, video recorders and digital cameras with video capabilities are prohibited during all events.
How do I get a sign language interpreter?
UPMC Events Center can provide sign language interpretation for guests that are deaf/hard of hearing. Requests for this service must be received three weeks prior to the event and be approved by the performer. For details, please email us at info@UPMCeventscenter.com.
What security is in place to ensure my family’s safety?
UPMC Events Center staffs both private security and RMU police officers to provide security before, during and after events. Depending on the current Homeland Security National Threat Advisory, UPMC Events Center will base event security upon that level along with the performer’s security rider.
What kind of alcohol is served at UPMC Events Center?
Beer and liquor are available for purchase by patrons 21 years of age and older. The number of alcoholic beverages served may be limited to one drink per person, per purchase. Management reserves the right to refuse service to guests who appear intoxicated or who are disturbing other guests. Beer sales are discontinued approximately forty-five (45) minutes before the end of the event. For a full list of available beverages please reference the concessions tab under venue information.
Can I bring in banners and signs?
Banners and signs are permitted as long as they do not block the view of others, interfere with the event, contain advertising of any form, present a safety hazard or contain political or obscene material.
No sign larger than 8.5" by 11" will be permitted into the venue. Banners may not be affixed with any type of material that is permanent in nature or that alters the facility in any manner.
Poles and sticks are prohibited.
Building management reserves the right to remove any banner or sign.
Signs may also be prohibited if requested by the event.
Ticketing FAQs
Where is the box office located?
There are two locations. One is located inside the doors at the UPMC Gate Entrance. The other location is inside the People's Gate entrance.
What and where is will call?
When purchasing tickets online, you may choose to pick them up at the Box Office Will Call window. Please be prepared to present the credit card used to purchase the tickets, as well as a photo I.D. Press and VIP tickets, or tickets left by a third party, may also be picked up at Will Call prior to the event. A photo I.D. is required.
What age does my child have to be to require a ticket?
Most events do not require a ticket for children under the age of two. However, in order for a child to have his/her own seat, a ticket is required. Some shows intended for young children (i.e., Sesame Street Live) require children over the age of one to have a ticket. To inquire about specific events, please email info@upmceventscenter.com.
The show was cancelled, now what?
In the event of a cancellation, tickets may be returned to your point of purchase for a refund. If tickets were ordered by phone or online, a refund will be applied to the credit card used to purchase the tickets.
Can I resell my tickets?
The resale of event tickets on the grounds of UPMC Events Center and RMU Campus is strictly prohibited. To avoid problems with counterfeit, stolen tickets, or inflated prices, please purchase your tickets through authorized Ticketmaster outlets only.
What forms of payment do you accept?
The Box Office accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express credit cards. No checks accepted. To purchase tickets online or by phone you must use a Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express credit card.
